Whether or not kids are apprehensive about dental care, we use the Tell, Show, Do Method to make every appointment more enjoyable, fun, and informative. This method involves explaining each treatment your child will receive (cleanings, exams, fillings, etc.) in a way that they will understand and appreciate. Here’s how it works:
Before we begin any procedure, we will discuss it first with your child. We use words they will understand, and tailor each visit to your child’s unique needs, preferences, and age. We give just enough detail about what we are going to do to keep them informed and aware, but not intimidated or fearful. This typically makes children feel settled and in control of the situation.
Next, we use fun puppets and a lot of enthusiasm to show your child what the procedure will look like. This gives them a deeper understanding of what to expect and gets them ready for the actual treatment. We make our presentation engaging and exciting to eliminate any intimidation that your child may still be feeling.
Once it is clear that your child understands the details of their diagnosis and treatment, we’ll begin! We communicate throughout the procedure to keep your little one comfortable and to let them know that we care about how they are feeling. We keep conversation light and fun, and by the time your child’s procedure is through they will feel like they made a new friend!
